Barau FC remain at the top of the NPFL table after Matchday 6. Meanwhile, Ikorodu City produced one of the biggest results of the round by beating defending champions Rangers 2-0.
NPFL Matchday 6 Highlights
Barau FC continued their unbeaten start after a 1-1 draw away to Sporting Lagos. As a result, they remain top with 12 points from six matches.
Meanwhile, Ikorodu City secured a memorable 2-0 home victory against Rangers. The result was their first league win over the defending champions.
Plateau United also moved closer to the top after beating Inter Lagos 2-0. Therefore, they now sit second with 11 points.
Enyimba, however, are still searching for their first victory. They earned a point after a 0-0 draw with Kano Pillars.

Importantly, Rivers United have played fewer matches than several teams around them. Therefore, their postponed fixtures could change the standings.
Ikorodu City Shock Rangers
Ikorodu City produced the headline result of Matchday 6 with a 2-0 victory over Rangers.
The newly promoted team defended well and took their chances when they mattered. As a result, they collected three valuable points against the defending champions.
Rangers, meanwhile, suffered a setback in their attempt to remain among the leading teams.
Plateau United Move Second
Plateau United continued their strong start with a 2-0 win over Inter Lagos.
After Matchday 6, they have 11 points from six games and remain just one point behind Barau FC. In addition, their latest victory strengthens their position near the top of the NPFL table.
Enyimba Still Without a Win
Enyimba remain at the bottom of the table after drawing 0-0 with Kano Pillars.
The result gave them their first point of the campaign. However, they still need their first win to move away from the bottom of the standings.
Meanwhile, Inter Lagos have four points, while Kun Khalifat and Niger Tornadoes have five points each.
Upcoming NPFL Fixtures
Four postponed Matchday 2 fixtures are scheduled for Wednesday, 30 September, with kick-off at 4pm WAT:
- Enyimba vs Shooting Stars
- Katsina United vs Rivers United
- Sporting Lagos vs Ikorodu City
- Warri Wolves vs Rangers
As these matches are completed, the NPFL table could change significantly.
Matchday 7
Matchday 7 is scheduled for 3–4 October.
Meanwhile, Barau FC will look to maintain their position at the top. Plateau United will also aim to continue their challenge, while Rivers United have an opportunity to gain ground through their games in hand.
At the other end of the table, Enyimba and the other teams near the relegation zone will be looking for important points.
